Since its creation in 2019, the Higher Institute of Statistical Professions (ISMS) has trained 120 graduates across three cohorts, with striking outcomes. Of those 120 graduates:
- 13 are continuing engineering studies at the Higher Polytechnic School.
- 8 were recruited by the National Agency for Statistics and Demographic Analysis, out of 10 posts opened.
- 4 were recruited by the Ministry of Agriculture, out of 5 posts opened.
- 2 obtained permanent contracts in the private sector.
- 1 was recruited by an international organisation.
- More than 40 were taken on under temporary contracts in 2023 and 2024 for censuses run by ANSADE and the Ministry of Livestock.
- 17 are pursuing a master's degree abroad: United States, France, Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, Russia and Senegal.
- 10 are pursuing a master's degree at higher-education institutions in Mauritania.
After reviewing files submitted by graduates in the United States and Russia, the ISMS professional bachelor's degree (three years) was recognised as equivalent to a four-year bachelor's degree in the American and Russian systems.
The training is not a conventional programme but high-level professional education built on three areas: statistics and data science, economics, and computing as a decision-support tool.
Our graduates are qualified to join both the public and private sectors — government departments, financial institutions, technology companies, consultancies and research centres — as well as international organisations: United Nations agencies, the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, the OECD and other bodies specialising in development and international cooperation.
