The Higher Institute of Statistics took part in the Maurisup orientation fair, held under the patronage of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, with the participation of senior figures from the country's main higher-education institutions.
The fair is an annual fixture for new secondary-school graduates, who come to explore the university paths open to them before settling on a choice.
The Institute's stand was run by a team of faculty and students from every year group. They welcomed visitors and set out the specialisations on offer, the admission requirements and how the programme unfolds, while sharing their own experience and the career prospects a degree opens up.
The stand also displayed a selection of student work and projects, giving visitors a sense of the scientific and applied training the Institute provides in statistics and data science.
The event allowed direct contact between the Institute's students and prospective applicants — a peer-to-peer exchange that made questions easier to answer and gave practical advice on choosing the right specialisation.
The participation confirms the Institute's openness to its educational environment and its commitment to involving students in presenting their own school, in support of higher education in Mauritania.
